Year 9 Media Production combines technical skills with creative exploration to enable students to develop proficiency in photography, Photoshop, light-painting, video production, video editing, and new media such as blogs, websites and podcasts.  Students develop these competencies by exploring current media products and through the creation of their own productions.

Media Production provides all students an opportunity to enjoy exploring new technology, while encouraging them to reach their creative and expressive potential.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction to photography, composition, and key photographic principles

  • Study and emulation of famous photographer’s work

  • Photoshop skills and tricks

  • Painting with light

  • Video production

  • Video editing and short film creation

  • Vlogs/blogs and the role of new media

ASSESSMENT

The course is practical based with students learning by doing. The emphasis is on having a go, trying new things, developing new skills. There is also strong emphasis on group work and participation. All practical work will also involve students individually reflecting on the media works in the world around them, and those they have created.
