Visual Arts encourages creativity and self-expression through a variety of fun-filled structured learning activities. The course offers exciting and challenging opportunities to develop skills in painting, drawing, print making and sculpture, resulting in original art that reflects the individual as well as society.
The Year 9 Course builds on concepts introduced in Year 8 Visual Arts, developing and expanding knowledge and an understanding of visual language and the elements and principles of design. Each semester will focus on a student brief that starts with research, drawing, design development and results in a final Studio piece. Creative research and drawing are encouraged as they promote artistic growth, divergent thinking and originality. Artists will be studied to inspire ideas and techniques.
A main focus of the course is to encourage a sense of purpose, enjoyment and personal satisfaction through the creation of original art. Art is showcased in Seton's annual Brother Francis Art Exhibition. Students also have the opportunity to enter their art work in numerous exhibitions such as Atwell, Angelico, Nufarm and the St George's Exhibition.
