Previous enrolment in Dance elective and an evident commitment to the course.
Course Description
This two-year certificate course is aimed at those students who wish to further develop existing dance skills and knowledge with a view to develop their dance skills, seek employment in dance industry or be accepted into full time training. It will clearly demonstrate what is required to make it in the industry. Units of competency may include street dance, jazz, contemporary, performance studies and choreography.
Course Objectives
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context in the dance industry, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The Certificate III in Dance can be used as a pathway into further study options such as a Certificate IV or Diploma qualification in Dance and/or Dance Teaching & Management.
On completion students will:
Develop performance techniques and condition the body for dance performance
Demonstrate advanced skill in contemporary, jazz and street dance.
Devise & perform own choreography works for public performance.
Coordinate production elements for performance
Develop dance composition skills and incorporate artistic expression into basic dance performances
Integrate rhythm in dance or movement technique
Work effectively in the creative arts industry and develop skills in teaching dance.

Units & Electives
Completion of thirteen (13) units of competence is required in order to be eligible for the award of Certificate III in Dance.
These include:
6 core units of study plus
7 elective units of which 3 may be transferred from Certificate II Dance (if completed during Year 10).
