Prerequisites
A ‘B’ Grade in Mathematics ATAR Ready S1 and maintain S2. Achieved OLNA.
Any student who underperforms in this course in Year 11 will be required to meet with the Head of Learning Area to discuss their continued enrolment in Year 12.
Aim of Course
Mathematics Methods is an ATAR course which focuses on the use of calculus and statistical analysis. The study of calculus provides a basis for understanding rates of change in the physical world and includes the use of functions, their derivatives and integrals in modelling physical processes. The study of statistics develops students’ ability to describe and analyse phenomena that involve uncertainty and variation.
You should select this course because:
You want to use Mathematics Methods ATAR as a University entrance course
Mathematics Methods ATAR is a prerequisite for a course you wish to study at university
If your future pathways may involve health, social sciences, mathematics and statistics and their applications in a range of disciplines at the tertiary level.
