McAuley

McAuley House derives its name from Catherine McAuley, a devout servant dedicated to caring for the impoverished and vulnerable. She founded the Sisters of Mercy, a global religious order committed to providing healthcare and education. The overarching theme of McAuley House is Compassion, echoing McAuley's belief that compassion should guide all interactions, as each individual is created in God's image. The symbol of McAuley House, the Mercy Sisters' Cross, reflects the order's origins. Additionally, waves symbolise the journey undertaken by the Sisters of Mercy from Ireland to Western Australia, where they established Catholic education in the Swan River Colony.

Catherine McAuley’s passion for responding in mercy to people in need in the 1830’s has not changed in the 21st Century with the Sisters of Mercy meeting the ever-changing needs of society throughout the world.
