PREREQUISITES
Minimum 68% in Year 10 Visual Art.
Any student who underperforms in this course in Year 11 will be required to meet with the Head of Learning Area to discuss their continued enrolment in Year 12.
AIM OF COURSE
In the Visual Arts ATAR course, students engage in traditional, modern and contemporary media and techniques within the broad areas of art forms. The course promotes innovative practice. Students are encouraged to explore and represent their ideas and gain an awareness of the role that artists and designers play in reflecting, challenging and shaping societal values. The Visual Arts ATAR course allows students to develop aesthetic understandings and a critical awareness to appreciate and make informed evaluations of art through their engagement of their own art practice and the work of others. All Year 11 ATAR students will attend the annual Art Camp in Term 2.

ASSESSMENT TYPES
Students will undertake these various assessment types which may include the following tasks:
Production (a body of work that incorporates resolved artwork and documentation of thinking and working practices)
Analysis (Response to analysis and evaluation of artwork sourced from a variety of forms, periods, times and/or cultures)
Investigation (Case studies involving research and visual analysis focused on Australian and/or international visual arts practice)
Examination (Typically conducted at the end of each semester and/or unit)
