Technology uses resources, including materials (such as timber, metals, plastic, jewellery and glass), tools and machines, knowledge, skills and experiences, as well as investment of time, energy and money. Students who love working with their hands and exploring creative ways to invent, problem solve, design and construct 3D objects from 2D design processes should enjoy the tactile nature of this subject.
The course aims to
- Develop knowledge, skills and appreciation of quality in the design and production of practical projects
- Develop the ability to investigate practical solutions to problems
- Encourage a sense of purpose, enjoyment and personal satisfaction through the production of practical projects
- Develop knowledge and understanding of traditional, current and emerging technologies in various industries
Design
Students investigate products or projects (past, present and proposed); devise, develop and modify design solutions throughout the technology process; and present their findings in written oral or multimedia form.
Production
Students develop understanding, confidence and competence when using skills in manufacturing processes and when managing production plans.

Assessment
All students will be assessed on a number of occasions throughout the semester. A variety of assessment strategies have been included in the program including both practical and theoretical components.
