This course offers you the opportunity to improve practical skills and become more confident in using the sewing machine. You will use this, and your creative skills, to use commercial patterns, to design your own textiles product or clothing. The concept and awareness of sustainable and responsible use of resources is explored. You will make set textiles items in Terms 1 and 4, and in Terms 2 and 3 you will design and make your own sustainable textiles product or garment.
The frequency of this subject is three periods per week.

ASSESSMENT
In the Year 10 Textiles course, students will be assessed in accordance with the College Assessment Policy, with a focus on demonstrating outcomes from the Technologies Learning Area. Assessment will take place at various points throughout the year, using a mix of practical and theoretical strategies.
Within the Materials and Technologies Specialisations framework, students will be required to combine a range of characteristics and properties of materials, systems, components, tools, technologies, and equipment to create designed solutions. These assessments will evaluate their ability to apply this knowledge in the creation of textile projects, showcasing their skills in design, production, and problem-solving.
