Drama is an engaging, highly practical and enjoyable course that builds confidence, promotes self-esteem and enhances leadership and time management skills. Students develops high order problem solving and group collaboration skills. Drama encourages creativity, self awareness, empathy and self discipline – whilst generally have a great time doing it!
In Year 9 Drama, students participate in activities to experientially develop fundamental dramatic skills, techniques and practices. They will explore several different forms of theatre through improvisation, play building, voice and movement workshops and scripted texts.
The Drama class is a place where students should feel able to take risks and participate in every activity with commitment, knowing that they are in a supportive, safe environment.

The highlight of the Year 9 Drama course is the opportunity for students to be involved in a number of performance contexts including the chance to create performance for specific audiences.
ASSESSMENT
Students will be assessed according to the College Assessment Policy. All students will be assessed on a number of occasions throughout the year. A variety of assessment strategies have been included in the program, including both practical and written components.
